Our Services and Programs

Open Hands provides the following services to assist the elderly, the disabled, or the economically disadvantaged in Northern New Mexico. Click on the links below to read more about each service and their associated programs. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale, and donations are welcome.

Adult Day Services

Open Hands offers the only nonprofit community-based adult day care program in Santa Fe county. The regular weekday program provides a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities in a group setting for frail elderly, socially isolated, and physically challenged adults. The combined elements of the program provide the means for clients to live independently, thereby preventing expensive institutionalization.

  • Adult Day Care Center - An all-day program available 5 days per week, that provides transportation, meals and snacks, socialization, therapeutic recreation, entertainment, supervised outings and health education. Available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Saturday Respite Care – Meals and snacks, socialization, therapeutic recreation, and entertainment on Saturdays for clients from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm to provide respite relief to their working caregivers, giving them personal time to attend to chores, appointments, social visits, etc.
  • "Care By Design" - A specifically designed program for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
