will double in the next 30 years;
- New Mexico is among the 10 top
states having the largest increase in its 65-and-over population;
- Santa Fe County’s 65-and-over
population rose by 44% from 1990-2000;
- This age group has increasing
needs and faces declining government funding support.
The Needs We Meet
Serve almost 12,000 people
each year;More than 80% of clients classified
as having very low income under City of Santa Fe guidelines.
The Firsts We Have
- Only non-profit adult day care
center in Santa Fe County;
- Only home-safety assessment and
services program in New Mexico outside of Albuquerque;
- Only comprehensive medical equipment
loan program offered at no cost to everyone in Santa Fe County;
- Only program offering a medication-management
consultant who confers with and trains seniors and their caregivers
on the safe, economical use of needed medications;
- The Largest program in
Santa Fe providing emergency financial assistance.
The Awards We Have Received
- Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce-Century
Bank “Business Excellence Award” for a large nonprofit agency
in 2003;
- New Mexico Area Agency on
the Aging’s (PSA II) first annual award for overall program performance
in 2002.
Why We’re Proud
- Adult Day Services is one of only
three day care facilities in New Mexico with a registered nurse on staff.
- Adult Day Services has a 5:1 client-staff
ratio and specialized programs for Alzheimer's
clients, and their caregivers.
